With Smart Symptom Check’s rapid growth and plans for global market entry, the website required immediate renewal. I led the end-to-end redesign and development of Smart Symptom Check’s new website, a digital health solution improving access to care. The project focused on creating a modern, trustworthy, and scalable website to better communicate the product’s value and support its go-to-market strategy across multiple regions.

Working closely with executive, medical, and clinical leadership, we aligned on the website’s core audience: healthcare providers.
Their primary challenge is that assessing the need for treatment is resource-intensive. The website therefore needed to clearly communicate how Smart Symptom Check reduces clinical workload, improves triage efficiency, and supports better care decisions.
As the sole designer, I initiated the project with a UX audit of the existing website to identify structural gaps, usability issues, content misalignment, and barriers to trust and conversion. This established a clear foundation for the new direction..
UX audit
The UX audit revealed a fragmented and unfocused website experience. Information hierarchy was unclear, storytelling was weak, and key value propositions were buried in dense content. Visuals and copy lacked cohesion, calls to action were not prominent, and navigation did not support clear user journeys. As a result, the site failed to communicate trust, credibility, and clinical value, particularly for healthcare providers evaluating the product.
The next step was to review benchmarks with stakeholders and align on the new website structure and visual direction. This ensured shared expectations on positioning, user experience standards, and the level of quality required for global market entry.

Once the direction was aligned, the project moved into the design phase. Due to stakeholder availability during the holiday period, and following the review of the homepage wireframes and prototype, we agreed to streamline the process. Based on established trust and the approved visual direction, we skipped low-fidelity wireframes and moved directly into high-fidelity prototyping.

In the prototype, I carried forward validated content and structure, while leaving unresolved areas as clearly defined placeholders. This allowed progress to continue without assumptions and enabled efficient alignment once stakeholders returned.
Eventually I delivered a clean, mobile-optimized interface aligned with the company’s updated branding, emphasizing clarity and accessibility for both patients and professionals.
High-fidelity Prototype
To reduce iteration cycles and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth on content refinement, I provided structured content guidelines for stakeholders. These defined content placement, text and image types, and character limits, enabling efficient, consistent content input without design rework.
High-fidelity Prototype
While content was in production, I began building the website in Webflow. The platform was selected to ensure long-term sustainability after handover, enabling a team without designers or developers to manage updates independently. It supports structured content management, visual consistency, and low operational dependency.

Homepage Development

One key challenge was that the homepage initially appeared static, and some users didn’t realize they needed to scroll for more content. To improve this, I implemented scroll-triggered navigation styling and added a “Learn more” prompt in the hero section to guide users intuitively down the page.
"Learn more" Scroll Prompts
Another challenge was that the website needed to be multi-language support. I implemented English and Finnish localization, including custom logic for language switching and browser-based language detection.
Language switcher
As we approached launch, I coordinated closely with the client to manage domain and DNS setup through their registrar, ensuring a smooth transition without downtime.
I also facilitated a full handover by providing live walkthrough sessions and practical documentation, enabling their team to confidently manage content using Webflow’s Editor.
Domain Setup
The site was successfully launched under a custom domain and received positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and external users. The design now better reflects the product’s credibility, supports multilingual audiences, and is fully editable by the client team moving forward.
